Wedding photographer & Filmmaker in Mallorca – My mix of fine art, documentary and modern

Planning a destination wedding in Mallorca means choosing a photographer who not only captures beautiful images, but truly understands the light and atmosphere of the island and the pace of a summer wedding in Mallorca.

I’m Ida, a wedding photographer and filmmaker based in Mallorca, specialising in fine art and documentary wedding photography, and cinematic wedding films for couples who value emotion, aesthetics and storytelling.

With a background in marketing, working with sports brands and luxury real estate, I know how to adapt and find the true story of each moment, and each wedding couple.

This guide is for you if you’re looking for a wedding photographer in Mallorca who blends documentary moments with elegant, timeless portraits.

Why choose a local wedding photographer in Mallorca?

Mallorca is stunning, but it’s also unpredictable.

As a locally based wedding photographer in Palma, I have experienced:

  • harsh midday sun and extreme heat. I’ve seen guests faint…

  • coastal winds. In one and the same wedding we experienced strong winds, extreme heat and a cold drop with sudden rain. We’ve seen it all!

  • mountain micro-climates. All of Mallorca is sunny. The forecast apps says sun. But we happen to be in the mountains and the sun is nowhere to be seen. I’m staying calm because I know it can take seconds and suddenly we’re experiencing a magical sunset.

  • fincas with challenging indoor light. Yes, some are actually quite horrific, from a photographer’s view. But I come prepare with small video light, flash and backgrounds for detail shots. Unless you love bright orange floor tiles! 😅

Knowing when to photograph, where to place you, and how to adapt quickly makes a visible difference in your final gallery.

My approach to wedding photography in Mallorca

My style can best be described as:

  • Fine art aesthetics

  • Documentary storytelling

  • Natural, relaxed portraits with a modern touch that captures your love and happiness. And if you want to, we can always add an editorial touch.

Documentary storytelling

So what does documentary storytelling mean?

It’s the unposed, undirected, moments that just happen without any input from either you or me.

  • real moments between you and your guests

  • subtle emotions you may have missed

  • Images that feel as beautiful today as they will in 30 years, because it’s about the people around you.

  • I shoot mainly digital but you can either add 35mm film or choose my full analog packages.

Many couples tell me they don’t feel comfortable in front of the camera. That’s completely normal – and something I work with every single wedding day.

Some examples of these types of images:

Natural portraits with beautiful even light

Portraits are most often directed. And yes, posed. Even though the word “posed” has losts its meaning in a way and gotten a bad rap, making your look amazing is part of a photographer’s job. Call it posed, directed, prompted or whatever you want. But shooting a wedding fully documentary style is not what anyone ACTUALLY want, even though you might think you do.

I’ve learned this the hard way after a bride asked me for more photos where the couple both looked into the camera, all thought specifically asking for unposed, candids ONLY. So, I’m not doing that again ;)

Here’s some examples of my portrait images.

Hybrid wedding photography & video – one cohesive story

I offer both wedding photography and wedding film in Mallorca, either separately or full coverage. I then work with my husband Andreas.

This means:

  • one visual style

  • one timeline

  • no competing teams

  • a calmer experience for you

Your photos and film are created to feel like they belong together – visually, emotionally and rhythmically.

Here’s examples of wedding couples who booked my hybrid package.

Destination weddings in Mallorca – what I help you with

Beyond photography and film, I support my couples with:

  • realistic timeline planning

  • light-based scheduling

  • portrait locations that actually work on the day

  • guidance before the wedding (not just on the wedding day)

  • venue visits together

If you’re planning from abroad, this kind of experience often becomes just as valuable as the images themselves.

Popular wedding venues I work at in Mallorca

I’ve photographed and film weddings all over Mallorca. Including but not limited to:

  • Famous hotels like Belmond La Residencia, Nixe Palace and Maricel.

  • Son Marroig - One of the most sought-after venues of Mallorca

  • Finca Morneta - Gorgeous and historic countryside finca

  • Son Mir - Beautiful, lush and well kept finca close to Palma

Each location has their own flair, and different opportunities when it comes to photography. I always have a plan in mind for each wedding, and you can be how involved in this process as you’d like. Some couples know exactly what they want when it comes to portraits, others are happy for me to take the lead and let my creativity guide us on the day.

Is Mallorca right for your destination wedding?

If you value:

  • natural beauty over trends

  • experience over volume

  • a big city like Palma, yet nature, culture and gastronomy

Then Mallorca, and my way of working, might be a perfect fit.
