Why you should get film photos from your wedding day
(Yes, the kind with actual rolls of film)
Let’s talk about something close to my creative heart: film photography.
Not the Instagram filter kind. Not a Lightroom preset. I’m talking about real film – the kind you load into a camera, shoot with intention, and send off to a lab, holding your breath until the scans come back. There's a reason film is making a quiet, beautiful comeback at weddings – and if you ask me, it deserves a place at yours too.
Here’s why:
1. Film slows things down – in the best possible way
In a world where everything moves fast, film asks us to pause.
I don’t take 10 shots of the same moment with film. I take one. Maybe two. And because of that, every frame is more intentional. More present. More felt. The result? Photographs that aren’t just technically good – they feel good.

2. That dreamy, nostalgic look? It’s not just a filter
Film has a texture, a softness, a depth that digital can't fully replicate. Skin tones are buttery and natural. The highlights glow instead of blowing out. The colors have a richness that feels timeless – especially in that golden Mallorca light. There's a reason fashion houses and editorial shoots still use film: it’s simply stunning.
3. You’ll love the mix of digital + film
When I shoot weddings on both digital and film, the two formats complement each other beautifully. You get the sharpness and flexibility of digital, paired with the soulful character of film. Think of film as the handwritten note next to a typed letter – both are meaningful, but one hits you in the heart a little differently.

4. Film feels timeless, because it is
Digital trends come and go (hello desaturated greens, orange and teal…), but film images age like wine. Look at your parents’ or grandparents’ wedding photos – chances are they were shot on film, and still hold up today. That’s the kind of legacy we’re talking about.
5. You’ll get some beautiful surprises
With film, there's a little bit of magic you don’t fully control. Light leaks, grain, soft focus – those happy accidents sometimes turn out to be the most poetic frames. It’s part of the charm. It’s imperfect in a way that’s deeply human – kind of like love.
So, is film right for you?
If you love the idea of your wedding photos feeling a little more soulful, if you want something tangible and timeless, or if you're simply drawn to the look of old family albums and vintage magazines… I’d say yes. Even just adding a roll or two of 35mm to your day can add so much depth to your story.
It’s not about being trendy. It’s about honoring your memories in a way that feels real. Honest. A little slower. A little softer. A little more like you.
If you’re curious about what adding film looks like, I’d love to show you some examples and chat about what would suit your day best. Because no two weddings are the same – and that’s exactly the point.
